Organic Wild Rice is technically a semi-aquatic grass seed rather than a true rice, with a distinctive dark colour, chewy bite and nutty, slightly smoky flavour that's noticeably different from ordinary rice varieties. It's often blended with other rices for a more textured side dish, or used on its own in grain salads, stuffing and pilafs where its firmer texture and bold flavour can stand out. It takes longer to cook than most rice — typically 45-50 minutes — and the grains will split slightly open when they're ready. Certified organic and vegan, with no added sugar, it's a distinctive way to add texture and interest to a plate. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, where it will keep well for many months.
