The Emergence: A Journey from Fear to Hope

Known to all in her community, as Emah Tikvah - Mother of Hope, was always exceptional in her significant role, as a wife of Ben Ammi, the Spiritual leader of the African Hebrew Israelite community. But in the eyes of her people, the word Emah (mother), describes her more completely, and her Hebrew name Tikvah, meaning “hope” perfectly embodies her character, and the essence of her soul.Her concern and compassion for her people is further magnified through her work as a Rofah (Divine Healer). Today, years after no longer actively participating with her peer of Healers, when speaking of her and to her, many still call her Rofah. Her skill in natural healing helped save many lives, and as a Midwife, her legacy is remembered through the stories shared of her delivering babies. Knowing the importance of keeping traditions alive and thriving, Rofah Tikvah personally trained several midwives, and did not officially stop serving as a Midwife, until she was confident that Hebrew Midwives would always remain a permanent fixture in her community.Emah Tikvah always freely shares words of wisdom by mostly quoting law, will listen when someone needs a listening, compassionate ear, and lends a helping hand when needed.
